We want to provide an update on an exposure to COVID-19 within our Edgemere community. We learned recently that one of our independent living residents tested positive for the virus and several of our residents have been cleared of the virus. There are a total of three active resident cases of COVID-19, two independent living residents, and one Plaza resident, and all are being cared for outside of our community.

We also learned of one new case of the virus among individuals who serve our residents. By way of recap, we have a total of 12 active cases of COVID-19 among team members and persons who provide care to residents and the community, and all are self-isolating at home.

We understand that you have concerns and may have questions about COVID-19 and the current situation in our community.  Please know we continue with our commitment to protect the health and safety of our residents and team members, and our team continues to be proactive in mitigating the risk of further exposure to the virus within our community.

Lifespace and Edgemere continue to follow heightened infection control guidelines from our local, state, and federal agencies. We highly encourage residents to only leave the community for essential needs like groceries or critical medical appointments. Residents and team members are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear a mask or face covering when interacting with others in public settings. Team members are also asked to continue exercising an abundance of caution, including practicing social distancing during break and meal periods to further limit the transmissibility of this virus. Proper hand hygiene including regular handwashing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer is essential to preventing the spread of the virus.

As we have done throughout the last several weeks, we will provide regular updates about our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community.
