We want to provide an update on an exposure to COVID-19 within our Edgemere community. Today, Sunday, November 22nd, we received results from our bi-weekly testing of all health center residents and team members. We learned that two of our team members tested positive for the virus. By way of recap, we have nine total active cases of COVID-19 among team members and persons who provide care and services to residents in our community, and all are self-isolating at home.

As previously communicated, we have now have four active cases of COVID-19 among our Edgemere residents. One independent living resident is self-isolating at home, one independent living resident  is self-isolating with family outside of the community, one Plaza resident  is self-isolating at home, and one Plaza resident is being cared for outside the community in a COVID-19 special care unit.

Dallas County and the State of Texas continue to experience high rates of COVID-19 positive active cases. We understand that you have concerns and may have questions about COVID-19 and the current situation in our community. Please know we continue with our commitment to protect the health and safety of our residents and team members, and our team continues to be proactive in mitigating the risk of further exposure to the virus within our community.

Lifespace and Edgemere continue to follow heightened infection control guidelines from our local, state and federal agencies. We highly encourage residents to only leave the community for essential needs like groceries or critical medical appointments. Residents and team members are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear a mask or face covering when interacting with others in public settings. Team members are also asked to continue exercising an abundance of caution, including practicing social distancing during break and meal periods to further limit the transmissibility of this virus. Proper hand hygiene including regular handwashing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer are essential to preventing the spread of the virus.

As we have done throughout the last several weeks, we will provide regular updates about our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community. We appreciate your support and continued adherence to the protocols we have implemented to protect our residents and team members. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Edgemere management team.

Thank you
