We are saddened to inform you that two of our Edgemere community residents have tested positive for COVID-19. We are also awaiting pending test results on two other community members – one resident and one team member. All four of these individuals received care under the guidance of medical professionals and we are keeping each one of them in our thoughts during this difficult time.
Edgemere has activated an emergency response team, and we are working with health and infectious disease experts to take all appropriate steps to control the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our residents, team members and the greater community.
In addition, we are continuously monitoring updated guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In step with those guidelines, the following changes were previously implemented:
- The City of Dallas issued a stay-at-home order on March 24. As a result, Edgemere residents were asked not to gather in communal areas or in individual apartments, and all private and public gatherings, regardless of the size, were suspended.
- Communal dining across all levels of living was suspended. Meal delivery is being provided with all delivery charges waived.
- All residents and team members have been asked to practice social distancing and rigorous hand hygiene in their daily interactions with each other.
- Residents have been strongly encouraged not to leave our community unless necessary to obtain essential needs like groceries or medication, or to attend critical medical appointments. In addition, we have recommended that residents use grocery and medication delivery services so that they can truly shelter in place.
We have taken steps to ensure that we are well prepared to manage an extended stay-at-home order.
We know this is an extremely challenging situation for all of our residents, team members and their families. The health and safety of our residents and team members at Edgemere is our top priority and we ask for your continued support as we all navigate this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic together.
