Today we learned that the test results for one of our residents and a team member at our Edgemere community came back positive for COVID-19. Both are receiving care under the guidance of medical professionals. The resident is in the hospital and the team member is recovering and self-isolating at home for the next 14 days. In addition, this morning another resident was hospitalized with symptoms and may undergo COVID-19 testing.
These results are in addition to the two other residents who also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. We will continue to work directly with our residents, their families and loved ones to provide expert care and resources for these and any additional cases.
We reiterate that we understand this is an extremely challenging situation, and we want to be as open and transparent as we can while respecting the privacy and wishes of those involved. The health and safety of our residents and team members at Edgemere, and all of our communities, is our singular focus and we ask for your continued support as we all navigate this unprecedented pandemic together.
In addition to complying with all protocols by local, state and federal agencies, we have already implemented twice-daily temperature checks for all team members at Edgemere, one at the beginning of their shifts and again at the end. We are also adding additional screening questions for essential visitors and team members.
We understand that physical distancing restrictions doesn’t mean “social” isolation, and we are working with our residents to encourage them to maintain virtual connections with their families, friends and loved ones through technology, such as iPads, computers and phones.
We are working to communicate with openness and transparency, please continue to monitor this site for updates. We continue to feel fortunate to have the community that we do –to have residents and team members offering to help one another and families contacting us daily to find ways to assist those in and outside of our community.
