February 20, 2021 Winter Weather Update
To our Edgemere Residents, Family Members, and Team Members:
We are relieved to say that our situation at the Edgemere community is starting to improve.
Starting today, residents throughout Edgemere should see temperatures rise to a more comfortable level. We do know of some problem areas and we have an HVAC company on site currently working in these areas. If you find your apartment or another area is not heating up properly, please let the Concierge know so the vendor can address it while on site.
Beginning yesterday, a water remediation company has been on site to help repair damage from broken water pipes. As a first course of action, they will work for up to a week to dry out any areas impacted by water saturation. Once everything is dry, they will begin the work to repair any damage.
We have relocated some residents to other areas of the community while their apartment is restored. Residents who have chosen to stay in their apartment even with the minimal inconvenience of slight water damage can remain in their home, or if desired, request to be relocated if you change your mind. We want you to be comfortable wherever you are.
We do apologize for the inconvenience of alarms going off. These alarms are related to the broken sprinkler pipes that tie into our fire alarm system. As soon as all pipes are repaired, we will be able to reset these alarms. In the meantime, we have staff on fire-watch in the impacted areas. Thank you for your patience as we realize this is very disruptive and irritating.
Our Plaza is fully operational and our residents there are warm and safe.
For residents who have left the community to stay with friends, we are making progress, though it has not been a full 24 hours of consistency. We are adjusting the thermostats in each apartment, but it will take some time for the temperatures to rise to normal levels. Additionally, we are still at risk of discovering broken water pipes. Our maintenance team is working on site 24 hours a day to quickly respond to any issues.
We ask all our residents to remember the following:
- Continue to be alert for signs of water leaks. If you see any evidence of water leaking or water damage, please contact the Concierge immediately.
- If you believe your apartment or another area of the community is not heating up properly, please let the Concierge know so we can bring the issue to the attention of the HVAC team while they are here.
- We are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Masks must continue to be worn throughout the community for your protection against the ongoing spread of the virus.
Again, we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work as quickly as possible to return Edgemere to full operations.
Thank you.
